Question Former US citizen - how can she get citizenship again? Please help

Could somebody please help - what she has to do?

My friend was born and raised in US, married a Canadian, became a Canadian citizen, then her husband died, and she returned to US (her parents were here), got a GC and has lived in US ever since (that was 1976)

Now she would like to become a US citizen again.
What does she need to do? She has her US birth certificate.

    Thank you,
    peelua

Did she give up US citizenship?
Merely becoming a Canadian doesn't mean that she would lose US citizenship.
It could well be that she still is a US citizen. How did she get a GC?

I understand that at that time (1976) once you became a Canadian citizen, you lost your US citizenship (that was her understanding at that time). When she returned to US, she wanted to keep her Canadian citizenship, that's why she asked for green card (her parents helped her to get it, she says an attorney was involved).

If she lost US citizenship then, can she get it back?

    This may be of help:
    http://travel.state.gov/law/citizens...nship_778.html
In particular, "The premise established by the administrative standard of evidence is applicable to cases adjudicated previously. Persons who previously lost U.S. citizenship may wish to have their cases reconsidered in light of this policy."
