Default US Citizenship Interview pending, while got laid off from work

I have applied for my citizenship along with my wife from VSC dated sept 29, 08. Meanwhile i got laid off from work due to the economic downturn(reduction in force) at our company due to in availability of venture capitalist.

Also is it ok to take unemployment benefits while citizenship is pending??
will it harm in any way?

So i am curious as to if it will affect my citizenship process.

Please guide me, your help is really appreciated.

Yes, greencard holders can get unemployment benefits if they qualify just like US citizens can. But, unlike US citizens, greencard holders cannot spend unlimited time outside of the USA without losing their permanent resident status, cannot have US passports, cannot apply for certain jobs, and of course, cannot vote.

It is not only for citizens. It is for anybody who is willing and able to work any job. That includes Permanent Residents.
