    Default N-400 Citizenship Application

    Hi Ron,

I entered the USA via Fiance Visa. I got married to a US citizen within 90 days and applied and got my Green Card - Permenant Residence Card with two year expiration. I just renewed it recently and got a one year expiration. During my wait for the renewed Green Card, I went through separation and ultimately a final divorce thru court.

What should I do when my Green Card expires in less than a year from now? At that time, I will have a total US residence of little over 3 years.
What should I inform the Immigration office?

When should I file for US citizenship?

    Thanks...

To qualify for the three year statute, you have to have a green card and be married to a US citizen during the entire three year period. You also must have a viable marriage at the time of the naturalization interview. Otherwise, you fall under the five year statute.
