Default I-130/I-485 for parents out side US

    Hi,

I'm a US citizen, can I file both I-130 and I-485 if my parents are OUTSIDE the US?

If the answer is NO, then do I need to file my affidavit of Support with my I-130?

How long does it usually take to bring your parents to the US with GC?

    Thanks,
    Dfi

    Dfi,
No you may not file both the I-130 and I-485 with your parents outside the U.S. You must file an I-130 for each parent. You will not need to file form I-485 to adjust their status as they will be Lawful Permanent Residents when they arrive in the U.S.

They have to get an Immigrant Visa from the consulate, which involves an interview there. The I-130 is not enough to come to the US.
This process is generally known as Consular Processing.
With the immigrant visa, they can enter the US, and become a Permanent Resident when they enter.
    I am not a lawyer.
