Grandfather born in US?

Noobie to this forum ... pardon the ignorance!

I'm curious as to how US citenzenship works. My grandfather was born in the US (North Dakota) and I was wondering if that allowed me any easier access or priviledges in obtaining a US passport or citizenship.

I'm interested in possibly moving to the US for a period of time and thought that may help - although I'm sure it's a long and drawn out process!

Unlike other countries (France and the UK, for example), a citizen grandfather will not benefit you directly. If your grandfather passed citizenship along to your parent, you might have a claim to US citizenship if all the stars are aligned.
