Scam Alert: ICE has received information indicating a possible scam targeting non-citizens, by individuals claiming to work for ICE's Detention Reporting and Information Line (DRIL).

Information provided to ICE indicates that imposters have contacted individual non-citizens claiming that there are issues with their immigration cases and requesting money be sent in to rectify the situation. To be clear, ICE's DRIL operators do not make outbound calls or ever request money from... individuals.

The public is urged to alert ICE as soon as possible if a call is received along with any other additional information that could be useful to investigate the responsible individuals or entities committing this scheme.

To notify ICE of any suspicious activity as identified above, please contact the Joint Intake Center at (866) 347-2423. The public may also contact the DRIL directly at (888) 351-4024, Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (Eastern Time).

This is real. Several of our clients have gotten calls like this. Unfortunately, one of them fell for it and paid a lot of money to the scammers. There is another version of this same scam that involves the IRS. Always keep in mind that the government NEVER asks for money over the phone - ever.

    Ron,
I have read in one of the forums too that this is real. It is very unfortunate that one of your client was a victim of it. Information like this will alert people & will help them to contact ICE when they are contacted by scamsters. Thanks Again for posting this.
