I am a full-time instructor at a 4-year college that has the policy of issuing only 9-month contracts that is normally renewed each academic year. This college is my GC sponsor. I have my I-140 approved and I-485 pending for over 24 months.

Could I port to another employer (college) but into an "adjunct instructor" role? Adjunct instructors have the exact job duties, but receive semester (4.5-month) contracts. I realize that the adjunct instructor is not thought of as a "permanent" position, but neither is my "full-time" position, because if the contract is not renewed at the end of the year, I am still out of work.

I should like to hear any experts chime in on this.

    Thanks a lot!

Most likely, you won't have any problems making that switch. As with all unique immigration matters, however, you should check carefully before you make the move.
