It depends on how quickly the complete the background checks and the schedule of the visa post.

Thank you for your response. I am a US citizen and applying through CR1 visa. Is there a priority date for this also? If so, how to check. Please let me know.

They are way overdue. Have you tried calling or emailing them? If that doesn't work, get your Congressman involved.

I have called the NVC and they told me that they don't have information from the embassy. Can I directly contact the embassy? How to contact the congressman, will an email work?

Look up your congressman's field office in the phone book. Call them and ask to speak to their immigration liaison. Tell them that you are a voter with an immigration problem. They will take care of you.

Background checks generally take less than a week and are usually done as soon as the NVC gets all of the documents from the applicant.

    Hello Ron,

I received an email from NVC on Aug 21st 2015 that all documentations for my spouse are complete and We are waiting for her interview date. Does it normally take this long to schedule an interview or should I contact nvc about it. I am a us citizen and i am applied for my spouse through regular i-130 petition form.

    Thanks

    Good evening,
My F2A priority date is Sept 2014 I'm a resident and my case was completed on Oct 3Rd do I have to wait for my PD to be current for them to schedule even though the letter they sent me stated to allow 60 days for an interview to be schedule? Also I had a DUI 2013 as the petitioner will this affect my husbands case? Thank you in advance for your response and time.

At lot depends on the workload at the consulate. For example, in Ciudad Juarez, it takes about a year to get an appointment. Other posts, such as London, get you in right away.

Probably three to five months from the time your application is considered documentarily complete.

How about the fact that I had a DUI in the past should that affect the case? Or i would've heard something by now? All I got was case was reviewed and then another letter saying case was completed and ready for interview allow 60 days.

    You're awesome! Thank you!
