    Hi Ron,

I moved from Client A(State X) to Client B(State Y) in January 2015. Now, my employer said that I have to apply for the H1B Amendment. My H1B expires in September 2016.
I am in a dilemma if I have to apply just for the H1B Amendment or [H1B Amendment+ Extension].
I know about the general rule that the H1B extensions can be filed 6 months before the expiration date.

Please help me in this issue.
    Thanks.

Your employer can file an amendment at this time and also request an extension. They are not extending the old petition, but rather the newly amended petition.

I still have 15 months for my H1B to expire (September 2016). I am not understanding the 6 month window.

I misunderstood your question and gave a bad answer. After I re-read it, I edited my response.
