My CPT authorization on my I-20 was supposed to come in 5/28 but I started working a few days before at 5/21 and I thought it won't be a big deal because I applied for CPT and it is in process. Recently I received a notice from E-Verify for tentative non-confirmation saying I have to contact the DHS for more information. On the I-9 form I actually said my start date is 5/21, but my CPT starts actually on 5/28. I'm worried that now I got a Tentative non-confirmation if I contest DHS will see I started working before CPT and inform my school and terminate my F-1 or arrange for me to be deported. I'm really worried now and I'm wondering if I should just not contest and quit the job just to be safe, or will it be ok and they will not see my start date as a big deal and report it to my college. Thanks.
