    Hi All,

My employer delayed my H1b extension petition(for no reason) and he filed on August 9th 2017 and My H1b visa and i-94 expires on Sept 1st. I still haven't received any receipt notice from USCIS to my employer/attorney( i am following up with them regularly). I would like to know what are my options if i don't receive receipt notice by Sept 1st.

I read somewhere about the 240 day period, after you file for extension and before i-94 expiry. I am not sure if its right info or not. And even if its true, is it only after i receive receipt or after i have filed for extension.

Also I found a thread in ImmInfo Discussion forum which i can closely relate to, but the user has not posted what happened eventually. So i am in panic mode. Need HELP!!

Please advice me on what to do.

Did you package reach USCIS? if it did, you are fine as the receipt date is when the package was received.

Thanks @djayash for the quick response. Yes my employer confirmed that the package has been delivered to USCIS. Sigh of relief!!

I will wait for the receipt notice to get my License renewed.

No problem. Even if the receipt notice comes late, you will be considered compliant

Note: I am not a lawyer nor an expert, just sharing what I know.

Update on my H1B receipt: Received it yesterday, so well within Sept 1st. Will take them to DMV to get my license renewed. Thanks once again for the info.

I think in some states, you can get a 240 day temp license based on your receipt notice

In Washington state, you can get your license renewed for 6 years and they don't ask any immigration info.
